A burst pipe is one of the most stressful things that can happen at home. Acting fast in the first few minutes can save thousands in water damage.
1. Shut off the main water valve
Find your stopcock — usually under the kitchen sink, in the basement, or where the water line enters the house — and turn it clockwise until it stops.
2. Switch off electricity near the leak
If water is near outlets, appliances or your electrical panel, turn off the power to that area. Safety comes first.
3. Drain the system
Open cold taps around the house to empty the pipes, and flush toilets to reduce pressure.
4. Call an emergency plumber
Our 24/7 team will isolate the burst section, make a safe repair, and help you document the damage for your insurer.
